18 Hole Singles Matches 0.25 points per HOLE (member guest style scoring)
For those who don’t know, member guest style scoring is the same as match play except every hole counts. I decided to change to it this year because it makes it almost mathematically impossible that one team could be out going into the final competition round, because if you take somebody to the absolute woodshed (much like Soroush and Alex did to Jeremy and I last Sunday Afternoon) you can make up a lot of ground. It works like this, each hole is worth a set amount of “points”. In our game I made that 0.25. If Brennan were to match up against JB, and beat him on 14 of 18 holes, while tying 2 and losing 2, then their match would be scored as 3.75 to 0.75 and he’d make up 3 points. It also means every match goes to 18! because even if you are closed out in traditional match play (ie down 4 after 15 holes), you can still work to close the gap.
