Chris Gram: 6.5 Index, A Flight
Talks a big game and mostly (ok fine, sometimes) delivers… Will undoubtedly make some silly side wagers and keep team and group morale high and is an absolute liability in Liar’s dice. Has been overheard considering making the bagel suite and toaster available only to teammates… The downside is that between now and October 13th he’s going to have added a baby to his family, and likely won’t touch a golf club in the month of October, so buyer beware.
Justin Blackmore: 8.7 Index, A Flight
He is simply the best parking lot to first tee in less than 5 minutes golfer I have ever seen. The number of rounds I’ve played with Justin where his first swing is from the #1 teebox and he quickly runs off 3 pars in a row cannot be overestimated. If this is my pick, I’m unplugging his alarm and making sure he never sets two feet on the practice range.
Soroush Amali: 9.7 Index, A Flight
The smooth lefty is exactly what a captain should be looking for in an early round pick. Watching Soroush hit baby fades into every fairway can be a truly demoralizing sight for any opponent. However, Bandon Boys insider Todd McShay (he’s out of work right now, so we got him for a steal) recently reported some cavities developing in the doctor’s game, and Soroush has been experimenting with a lot of training aids. Here is what he looked like during his most recent “self-lesson”:

Brennan Lowes: 11.0 Index, A Flight
Brennan and JB took home the trophy two years ago, and the word on the street is that he’s hungry for more. Blowes has played like a 50 year old man since I first teed it up with him, and his game is aging gracefully. He brings his own walking cart, he’s not long off the tee, always in control, never high, and never low, which frankly makes him a great course fit across all the Bandon properties. Firm fairways and a premium on consistent play make Brennan a good fit for any squad.
Alex Hortsch: 11.9 Index, B Flight
The group rookie comes in as a very known commodity. Alex’s golf game has taken a significant step backwards since becoming a girl dad 3 times over, but recent developments indicate he might be on the comeback trail… Downside is he’s never been to Bandon, which for a preppy kid who grew up on the fairway lined boulevards of Lake Oswego feels almost too crazy to be true.
Kyle Shepanek: 13.2 Index, B Flight
A reigning champion from 2 years ago, Kyle took home the individual title in a run away Net performance. Rumors have swirled for years around the legitimacy of the 13.2 Kyle carries around, and I’ll admit I once saw him 4 putt from 18 inches on the 18th hole, but I say shame on all of you for doubting a man of honor. Don’t worry about whether or not Shep is a sandy bastard, just make sure he’s on your side.
Connor Cunningham: 13.5 Index, B Flight
Connor is coming off a 4th place finish (DFL), partnered with your very own commissioner in the 2021 version of the Bandon Boys tournament. I’m not here to shame anybody, but I’ll just state that Connor didn’t exactly bring his A game last time around. Look for a big comeback from our happiest golfer, bonus point if “Peter” makes a weekend appearance.
Jeremy Wearn: 17.4 Index, B flight
Jeremy “Big Swinging Richard” Wearn loves to hit the big stick… unfortunately, sometimes that big stick doesn’t always return the love – see last trip when he piped two OB right off Bandon #1 (the first one went over the parking lot). Despite this, Dr. Wearn has come a long way in his golfing journey, and I swear he is more than 5 shots better than the last time we rounded up this flock of ducks for a flight south. An excellent pick to pair with a steadier golfer and let Jeremy net Par and Birdie opponents to death in the two man formats.
