Playoffs Baby, Playoffs

Sure the regular season is important, and if you go 3-11 in the regular season to lock up the Ranker Supreme title for another year then its really important (you are all welcome, this is what I wanted all along). But what matters most in any sport is The Playoffs. You don’t want to find yourself like the 2001 Seattle Mariners, the 2015 Atlanta Hawks, or the 2007 New England Patriots – regular season goliaths with nothing but a sob story to show for it. So yes, this week I will rank people 1 – 6 and then a 6 way tie for 7th, but at the end of the year we have 1 winner and 11 losers, and there’s simply no other way to look at it (which is good, because I was sure a big old loser this year).

One note before we jump into what I will admit, was a very mediocre column that I wrote tonight (Few if any jokes, not enough good spirited jabs, just didn’t have my fastball tonight). Anyways, there is one loser who I would like to pay a moment of tribute to. Our reigning league champion gave up his belt on Tuesday morning, but he was absolutely robbed. Most points in the league by a hair, but most points against by 18, Jack had on average 13 more points scored against him each week than the rest of the league. He also had a slim path to the playoffs last week that included Jamison losing and outscoring Jamison by 52.4 points.. But instead Jamison snuck thru by 1.4, and Jack outscored him by almost 60! (Yes I realize that Scoones winning meant it didn’t matter, but still, for a moment we all had a dream). Big Big revenge season coming…

#1: Drop your Mikes The Van Buren Boys (10-4)

2nd post points scored, a strong finishing week, Jeremy and Rhamondre (who I have always said was a fantastic RB and a great draft pick) are gunna rest up this week before being a strong favorite against either Low Tee or Re-draft next week.

#2 Kupp and down (9-5)

Fell ass backwards into the two seed that nobody wanted, but did have a respectable week with 112 points against a Nasty Nick team that wishes the fantasy season was 18 weeks just like the real NFL. Probably not going to be favored against either team next week.

#3: The Van Buren Boys (9-5) vs #4 So Sticky It Hurts (8-6)

I like both of these teams better than the other matchup, which stinks because obviously one of them has to lose. Van Buren has the better players but Sticky has the better matchups, so initially I wanted to pick Joffrey Scoones… But then I remembered something. Scoones has not won (or lost) more than 2 in a row all season… And he just won 2 in a row to get into the playoffs. Forget true statistics, roster and matchup analysis, and predicted snow storms (sorry Stephon Diggs), I’m going to STICK with the trends and assume it’s practically guaranteed that TVBB gets the W. Besides, it would only be fitting after I suppressed Connor’s rankings all year if he made a title run to win the feud once and forever. Good job TVBB, we are once again friends, as I’ve already decided that next year I’m feuding with Soroush and Brennan, so it’s a good time to transition anyways.

Prediction: TVBB: 117 over SSIH: 104.5

#5: Low Tee (8-6)* vs #6 Can We Re-Draft? (9-5)

Tonight’s bust from Aiyuk is influencing this a little bit, had I written this Thursday morning I probably would have had the teams T5. But you must use the most up to date information available, and so Byron is our worst Playoff Team. Supporting that is the fact that he scored 7th most this year… There’s almost no way either of these squads win three in a row… I personally feel that Jamison should start Fields, but he’s in the playoffs and I’m not, so forget me. This is what Bill Simmons would refer to as the Shakey’s game…

Prediction: Low Tee: 101 over Can We Re-Draft: 84.7

#7: The Three and Outs

The best team to ever miss the playoffs

#T8: Legends, Nasty, Gano

Good job guys, let’s get them next year

#11: Ok Lowes

WTF was that Brennan, Sean leaves 2 roster spots empty and you don’t even sniff a W. You somehow tanked without tanking, just despicable. I can’t wait to disparage you from September to December next year.

#12: Live Free or Drank Hard

PICKS OF THE WEEK (Brought to you by Bart’s Backyard BBQ and Bistro)

Last Week’s Picks Record: (2-4) Yikes

Total record of picking fantasy league games: (14-16) Double Yikes

NFL Spread (9-4): Much better and much more profitable

Vikings – 4 over Colts (Yes the Vikings have a -1 point differential, but they are also definitely better than Jeff Saturday’s Colts)
